When AI Art Misses The Viral Train: My Experiment with Chat GPT-4

Artificial Intelligence Meets Magical Kitten: The Viral Promise

Artistic rendering of a rainbow-colored kitten with butterfly wings, perched on a floating crescent moon above an enchanted forest, chasing glowing stars.
Our magical kitten image: when AI-inspired whimsy meets the quest for viral stardom.

Do you remember when we used to believe in unicorns and the Easter Bunny and that every single post we uploaded would effortlessly break the Internet? My faith in the Easter Bunny might have dwindled, but my optimism for a viral hit? Unwavering. So, I did what any self-respecting Gen X Instagram hopeful would do: I turned to artificial intelligence, Chat GPT-4 in an attempt to create a viral image.

The Curious Collaboration: Chat GPT-4 and Me

Chat GPT-4, for the uninitiated, is a text-based AI developed by OpenAI, capable of conjuring everything from haikus about sunsets to eloquent dissertations on Kantian ethics. But could it script the perfect Dall-E image prompt for an Instagram hit? I decided to find out.
The brief I gave was precise: Dream up an image that could climb the virality ladder. In its digital wisdom, the AI painted this charming word picture: ‘Create an image of a rainbow-colored kitten, with butterfly wings, perched on a floating crescent moon, above an enchanted forest bathed in twilight. The kitten is playfully chasing glowing, magical stars whirling around it. Make it dreamy and whimsically cute.’

Stars, Kittens, and the Harsh Reality of Just 9 Likes

Let’s be clear: I was all in. I bought into the AI’s idyllic tableau, half-expecting this rainbow kitten to fly off the screen and into viral stardom. Then, reality struck. The post went live, and you know what? It racked up a total of…wait for it… 9 likes.

Yes, nine. Not even double digits. The AI’s whimsical vision fell flat with the denizens of Instagram.

Why Did The Kitten Not Conquer The Internet?

The virality of a post hinges on countless variables: timing, audience engagement, algorithms, and even celestial alignment (okay, maybe not that last one, but who knows?). Maybe the magical kitten got lost in the algorithmic abyss. Or perhaps the Internet wasn’t in the mood for enchanted forests and celestial felines.

In any case, it was an interesting experiment. And while I’m nursing my viral-hit dreams with a dose of ’90s grunge music and reminiscing about the days of dial-up Internet, I remain hopeful.

What’s Next on This AI Adventure?

Chat GPT-4 and I have more tricks up our sleeves. Yes, the AI’s predictive capabilities might need some refining, but isn’t that part of the fun? Remember, friends, viral hits might be elusive, but creativity, curiosity, and a healthy sense of humor? Those we’ve got in abundance. Stay tuned!
